'Game of Thrones' Star Kit Harington Reveals Why Daenerys and Jon Snow’s First Scene Was So Tense

Still no word on why we haven't gotten a Larry David cameo on 'Thrones' yet.

The latest episode of the HBO series most in need of a Larry David cameo, Game of Thrones, finally gave fans something they've been waiting on for quite some time. Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) had their very first meeting Sunday in the season 7 episode "The Queen's Justice."

Harington shared his interpretation of Snow's underlying feelings about the meeting in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The anticipated meeting, Harington said, came sooner than he expected. "As far as Jon knows, he's just meeting this queen he's heard of and trying to negotiate with her — he's not meeting Daenerys, who the audience has been watching for so many years," he explained Sunday. "That helps with the surprise of it. He walks into the room and doesn't expect to see such a beautiful young woman of similar age to him."

Clarke added that the scene was a "fun" one to shoot, confirming that Daenerys indeed doesn't—for now, at least—like Snow and "doesn't believe him."

Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, who are currently battling a controversy surrounding their forthcoming Confederate series, let loose a few more details on the Daenerys x Snow meeting in a special post-episode HBO discussion. According to them, the characters' first impressions of each other are largely based on misunderstandings.

The two don't have much time to figure this shit out, as Thrones will wrap up forever no later than 2019. Not ones to let a blockbuster simply ride off into the sunset, HBO is said to be considering a number of spinoff and prequel options.
