You've never really lived if you haven't been fortunate enough to experience the majestic glory of a truly unlimited data plan, which is exactly why so many major communications companies are generally not a fan of the plan's existence. However, for the uninitiated, AT&T is giving you another chance to enjoy some guilt-free data by finally returning to the business of unlimited data plans. As fate would (always) have it, there is (of course) a catch.
AT&T will now offer unlimited data plans for smartphoners who also sign their life away to DirecTV or U-verse, the Verge reports. For a single smartphone, the new plan runs about $100 a month for unlimited action. Additional phones can be added for $40 per month each, with the fourth line qualifying customers for a credit that essentially renders it a freebie.
DirecTV was purchased by AT&T for the low, low price of $48.5 billion in 2015, according to Mashable. For those not interested in whatever a DirecTV is, the future of unlimited data doesn't look quite as promising. The new plans, for those who do in fact understand what a DirecTV is, are set to launch later this week.
