Deadlinereports that Janelle Monáe has signed on to The Glorias: A Life On The Road, a biopic based on Gloria Steinem's memoir. Monáe is joining a cast that already includes Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander, who will be playing Steinem at various points in her life. Steinem became a voice for equal rights through her work as a journalist in the late 1960s, which ultimately turned her into nationally-recognized leader of the feminist movement.

Monáe made her on-screen film debut in 2016's Moonlight. That same year, her role as Mary Jackson in Hidden Figures garnered critical acclaim, including the Hollywood Spotlight Award at the Hollywood Film Awards. She will be returning to the big screen later this year in the Steve Carell-starred drama Welcome to Marwen, directed by Robert Zemeckis.

Monáe's Wondaland Pictures signed on to a first-look production agreement with Universal last month, allowing the company to get first dibs at any content coming out of her production. Monáe will also delve back into the biopic business, starring in Harriet, based on the life of Harriet Tubman, and return to voice work on Disney’s Lady and the Tramp reboot.

Despite her growing success in the film industry, Monáe hasn't forgotten about music. Her latest effort, Dirty Computer, landed her two Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Best Music Video for "Pynk."
