AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Avengers: Infinity War may not be in theaters for over another month, but that hasn't stopped a deluge of people from buying presale tickets because, though it will one day only play on FX five times per week, it's important to see it first.

Tickets went on sale at 9 a.m. on Friday.

According to Deadline, the newest Avengers flick took just six hours to bust the advance sales record for superhero movies on Fandango. Whether or not that's a big deal, I don't know (it's not like it's going to flop) but it's probably indicative of just how big a blockbuster it will be.

Infinity War's achievement topped the previous confusingly worded 24-hour ticket sales Fandango record holder, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (which somehow grossed more than $870 million), as well as Black Panther, which could end this week having grossed roughly $1.2 billion in worldwide box office receipts.

Fandango apparently sends out surveys for this stuff, and learned the following via input from over 1,000 people who snatched their Infinity War tickets on Friday morning:

–97% can’t wait to see how dozens of heroes work together in the same film

–94% are excited to see different franchise characters (Guardians, Avengers, etc.)  meeting one another for the first time.

–92% see “Infinity War” as the culmination of all of the MCU films before it.

–87% have seen all of the MCU movies.

–71% saw Black Panther on the big screen.

–60% claim Black Panther made them even more excited to see Avengers: Infinity War.

Anyway, hopefully Infinity War lives up to the hype. No pressure or anything.
