A new study claims that listening to sarcastic comments in the workplace helps employees solve problems creatively. (We totally believe you.) That's when the study compared three groups of subjects: those who were exposed to genuine, neutral, or sarcastic comments. The ones who got an earload of jokes were better at answering questions that tested their ability to make connections and think outside-of-the-box.
Lots of studies have looked at how humor affects creativity—and have found that laughing increases feelings of happiness, which increases our ability to make connections. Still, according to Quartz, many researchers say that sarcasm shouldn't have a place in the office, and only works to make people more uncomfortable. Sheesh, you think they could take a joke.
