Neil Patrick Harris is the latest big-name actor to sign on to the latest Matrix installment.

According to VarietyHarris will join Matrix staples Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as well as newcomer, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, as one of the stars of Matrix 4. Similar to the movie's plot, Harris' role in Matrix 4 has been kept under wraps. Variety reports that Iron Fist actress Jessica Henwick is also in "final negotiations" for a lead role in the film.

Warner Bros. first announced the fourth Matrix in August, after years of trying to revive the sci-fi saga, while complications with the production rights hindered the process. But with Reeves coming off an impressive summer with key roles in blockbusters like John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Toy Story 4, the franchise seems primed for a new life.

Lana Wachowski has been confirmed to write and direct the film, though her sister, Lilly, is reportedly not involved. "We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana,” Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich said. “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”

Plot details surrounding the film are being kept under wraps, though a young version of Morpheus is rumored to be involved.

“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now," Wachowski said in a statement. "I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends."

As of now, there is no scheduled release date for the film, which is expected to start production at the beginning of 2020.
