Sharks, save for animated ones, usually inspire terror. The smear campaign against sharks has continued ever since Jaws first showed audiences what it'd be like to be the victim of a shark attack. For once though a shark is the victim. A shark was found almost dead in a Florida swimming pool as a part of a prank and a woman tried to save it.

The five-foot blacktip shark was found in the Mariner's Cay condo pool in Hypoluxo, Fla. by Nicole Bonk, reports the Sun-Sentinel. Bonk and her husband had been visiting friends approximately two week ago when one night around 11 p.m. they saw two boys throw the shark in the pool. That's when Bonk and her husband sprung into action to pull out the shark, which had hooks in its mouth, taking it to the Intracoastal Waterway. Before releasing the shark the couple held it so that it could rid itself of the pool's chlorinated water.

"These two kids, they came back from fishing and threw this half-dead creature into the pool as a prank," she said. "They left the shark in the pool to die. I think they're terrible children because it's animal cruelty."

She added, "We tried to revive him but he mostly likely did not live," she said. "He was barely moving after the trauma. We did our best to try to save this creature."

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the incident.
