Hugh Grant had people talking after the Oscars, and it wasn’t about his work.

The 62-year-old actor was interviewed by Ashley Graham on the red carpet during ABC’s Countdown to Oscars 95. The exchange took an awkward turn when Grant told Graham he was excited to see “no one in particular” after describing the event as a “vanity fair”—not Vanity Fair.

Graham proceeded to ask Grant who designed his tuxedo, to which Grant glibly said “I can’t remember, my tailor.” The America’s Next Top Model alum then questioned Grant about his cameo in Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which hit theaters last September and Netflix in November.

“Well, I’m barely in it. I’m in it for three seconds,” he responded.

When Graham asked if he enjoyed filming the movie, he responded, “Almost.”

Following the awkward interview, viewers didn’t hold back their thoughts. Some social media users praised Grant’s authentic nature during the conversation, while others pointed out Graham’s ability to keep the exchange going despite Grant’s cringeworthy answers. One said they “don’t think the interviewer or the people who think he was rude know Hugh Grant,” while others said Grant should’ve just stayed home.

While at the Vanity Fair after-party Graham told CNN of the exchange, “My mother always told me to kill ’em with kindness.”

She made similar brief remarks to TMZ (below), and also told CNN she felt “very supported” when the moment started going viral.
