Jussie Smollett’s purported co-conspirators in orchestrating last year’s hate crime believe the actor should confess.
Abel and Ola Osundairo were leaving a restaurant in Chicago when TMZ caught up with them. Ola says that they are urging Smollett to “build up the courage to finally tell the truth,” thereby suggesting that they’re sticking to their version of events—that Smollett staged the deceitful incident.
Abel added that he feels ashamed for his involvement in the situation and for making matters worse for victims of real hate crimes because of what they did.
Special prosecutor Dan Webb has hit Smollett with a new six-count indictment for making a false report to law enforcement, in connection to the notorious alleged hate crime that took place in January 2019. He also still has to tackle the City of Chicago’s lawsuit against him for almost $500k in investigative costs.
The Osundairo brothers told TMZ they are still “fully committed to the public knowing the truth” and will comply with the current investigation, even if they have to testify.
In March 2019, all of the charges against Smollett were dropped, and his record was “wiped clean” in exchange for giving up his $10,000 bond to the city and community service. Webb was then appointed to investigate Smollett’s case last August due to grievances of Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx's involvement.
