Jason Mitchell was arrested on Wednesday for felony weapons and drug charges.

TMZ reports that the Straight Outta Compton star was arrested with two guns in Mississippi. He was subsequently booked on four felony charges: two counts of possession of a weapon by a felon (Glock19 and a Mini Draco) and two charges for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (marijuana and ecstasy).

Mitchell was booked on Wednesday afternoon and released later that evening on a $150,000 bond.

“Jason is at home with his family right now, working on an amazing new project," a representative for Mitchell TMZ. "News stories move fast and oftentimes without all of the facts. This misunderstanding will be resolved shortly. We trust that the court systems blind justice will protect Jason's rights and allow him to tell his story.”

Mitchell's representative added that “During the Pandemic it's best we focus on the importance of our Nation growing back to our full capacity.”

The actor has found himself in hot water a few times over the last couple of years. In 2019, after misconduct allegations, he was fired from the Netflix movie Desperado and let go from the Showtime show The Chi. The year prior, his co-star, Tiffany Boone left the show after claiming that Mitchell sexually harassed her.

"In full transparency, I was aware that some news was coming, but work had allowed me to focus elsewhere," Boone said of Mitchell's firing. "I'd heard whispers that my previous co-star had been fired from a new project and subsequently fired from the show we worked on together. ... I had finished my time on The Chi in November of 2018 and had already been working on a new series for several months."

He later denied the allegations on The Breakfast Club.
