The first teaser trailer for the Bob Marley: One Love biopic is here.

A synopsis describes the forthcoming film as one that "celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity.”

Starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley and Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita, the trailer gives a glimpse into the late singer’s life. While we see some of Marley’s highs—him and his band performing in front of roaring crowds, in the recording studio, speaking to reporters, and at home in Jamaica—there are also lows, like Marley and his wife being the target of a shooting. Rita and Marley married in 1966 and were together until he died in 1981 at the age of 36.

The film was created as a partnership with the Marley family. Bob’s oldest son, 54-year-old Ziggy Marley, celebrated the trailer’s arrival on Instagram this week, writing, "Nothing happens before it’s time and now is the time for the story of our father Bob Marley to be represented in a biopic theatrical release coming in 2024."

He continued, "You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became?”

One Love is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who saw his directorial debut with King Richard. The screenplay writer behind King Richard, Zach Baylin, also wrote the Marley biopic script. Ben-Adir has previously appeared in The Comey Rule and One Night in Miami, and is currently in the Marvel Disney+ series, Secret Invasion.
