Just over a year after overdosing in a Crystal, Nevada brothel, and mere days after officially becoming divorced from Khloe Kardashian, former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom is headed to rehab in a effort to maintain his sobriety, according to a report from E! News.
Odom was found unresponsive last October in his room at the brothel outside Las Vegas with a cocktail of drugs in his system, after having suffered several strokes. Doctors feared he'd suffered serious brain damage, and Odom's condition was so bad that at one point Kardashian was told he had only hours to live. The former athlete made a stunning recovery, though, and by February was showing up for the Yeezy Season 3 event at Kardashian's side.
But since then there have been signs that Odom's recovery from drug and alcohol abuse has been a struggle. By March there were reports of him buying drinks at a bar and in July he was reportedly kicked off an airplane after excessive vomiting. Later that month he apparently walked out of an intervention that his family had staged in an attempt to curb his behavior, and as recently as August, Kardashian said Odom had taken "five steps backward" and she was worried what might happen to him.
A source who spoke to E! about Odom checking himself into the rehab facility in San Diego said that Odom had not "fallen off the wagon, but he understands the importance of maintaining his sobriety."
