Just over a month after she opened up about witnessing Will Smith slap Chris Rock during the 94th Academy Awards ceremony, 2022 Oscars host Wanda Sykes admits she’s still “traumatized” by the incident.

According to People, Sykes addressed the slap during a recent stop on her comedy tour, in Orlando, Florida. “I’m still traumatized,” Sykes told the audience. “I can’t talk about it. I get emotional.”

“I couldn’t believe he was still sitting there, like an asshole,” she continued. “Shouldn’t you be sitting there with a lawyer or LAPD, motherfucker?”

Sykes went on to acknowledge that she hopes Smith is able to bounce back, before admitting that she wants nothing to do with him until he gets “his shit together.”

“I hope he gets his shit together,” she said. “Until then, fuck him.”

It isn’t the first time Wanda has shared her thoughts on the Oscars slap. Just a few days after hosting the Oscars, Sykes sat down for an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, where she said she felt sorry for her friend, Chris Rock.

“I just felt so awful for my friend, Chris. It was sickening. I physically felt ill. I’m still a little traumatized by it,” she said.

The Oscars host added that the slap felt like a direct insult to her and her co-hosts, Regina Hall and Amy Schumer, because they had worked really hard to put the show together.

“We worked really hard to put that show together — so I’m like, what the hell is this?” Sykes said.
