Tom Hanks stars in the first trailer for the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama Finch, an original Apple TV+ in which the actor is joined by a robot and his dog.

With Hanks as the titular Finch, the movie follows the story of a man who builds a robot to look after his beloved dog when he’s gone. With the world now a desolate wasteland, and the assumption that there might not be other survivors out there following a cataclysmic event, the three set out on an adventure.

Co-starring Caleb Landry Jones as the robot, who names himself Jeff, Finch is directed by Game of Thrones and Altered Carbon helmer Miguel Sapochnik. Veteran director and producer Robert Zemeckis, perhaps best known for the Back to the Future trilogy, is also on board as a producer. Finch is scheduled to arrive on Apple TV+ globally on Nov. 5, and from the looks of the trailer it might be wise to have some tissues at hand.

Originally titled BIOS and filmed in early 2019, Universal Pictures pushed back the release of the film several times throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, Apple scooped up the film for a release on its streaming platform.
