Scarlett Johansson is setting the record straight. After playfully kissing Jurassic World Rebirth co-star Jonathan Bailey at two premiere events this month, the actress explained that hey, how could you not?
In an interview with Today host Craig Melvin, Scarjo was asked about kissing Bailey, 37, on the red carpet at the London premiere of the film on June 17 and the New York City premiere on June 23.
Melvin described her co-star as “so attractive,” to which she added, “Yeah, you said it.” Asked if that was why she keeps “planting lips on him,” she replied, “He’s a lovable guy, what can I say? … I don’t know. We’re just friendly people.”
Johansson co-stars in the latest Jurassic Park movie with Bailey, and is married to Saturday Night Live star and "Weekend Update" anchor Colin Jost, with whom she shares a son. Jost was in attendance at the NYC premiere.
Melvin also asked if Johansson was surprised by the attention the red carpet moments got on social media. “Nothing surprises me, you know what I mean?” she said. “Nothing surprises me these days. But, yeah, I’ve got a lot of love to give, what can I say?”
Bailey came out as gay in 2018. Last year, he launched the charity The Shameless Fund, which offers support to queer communities around the world.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this month, Bailey also offered his thoughts on the kisses. “I believe in being able to show love in all different ways,” he said. “And if you can’t kiss your friends… life is too short not to.”
