We’re just two months away from the long-awaited return of Atlanta, and ahead of its release Donald Glover released some rare behind-the-scenes glimpses at the writers’ room.

In a slew of posts on Instagram, the FX series creator and star uncharacteristically shared a photo and video dump of himself and the writing team for Season 3 and 4. Across seven posts, a number of which consist of a carousel of images, Glover gave fans a feel for the environment in which the very-likely-brilliant scripts for two new seasons came together.

The moments include an impression of Michael B. Jordan’s Black Panther character, a priceless Zoom screenshot with the YouTube video “The Poop Lady - Hoarders” visible, some jumproping, and various beard lengths. The first post is captioned “(2019-2020) p1,” and following it came a “p2” and “p3” as well as a “bonus” and several un-captioned additions.

The Atlanta writers’ room in past seasons has featured Stefani Robinson (What We Do in the Shadows), Taofik Kolade (Barry), Ibra Ake, Jamal Olori, Fam Udeorji, and Donald and Stephen Glover. Stephen scripted the Rihanna/Donald-starring film Guava Island, with story credits for Ake, Olori, Udeorji, and the man sometimes known as Childish Gambino.

The show was scheduled to go ahead with production in early 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed back those plans. FX previously wanted Season 3 to debut in 2019, but a very busy schedule for Glover and others on the highly in-demand team made it unfeasible. Production finally kicked off last year in April, and the third season will premiere on FX and Hulu on March 24.

The first trailer for new episodes of the show, which will take place in Europe as Paper Boi goes on tour, arrived at the end of 2021. Atlanta was given a Season 4 order before Season 3 even entered production, but FX has yet to confirm when fans can expect that.
