'Saddened' Charlie Cox on Whether He'd Play Daredevil Again: 'Oh My God, Yeah'

Turns out Daredevil star Charlie Cox was just as shocked as everyone else by the cancellation of the series, which Netflix announced last week. Reports have already indicated that despite its popularity, the show will be unlikely to return, and probably won't be rebooted on Disney's upcoming streaming service, either. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cox has broken his silence on the cancellation.

“A lot of us really expected to keep going, and I certainly did,” the English actor said. “The truth is, I felt like we had a lot of stories to tell, and although I understand [the cancellation], I’m very saddened by that." The third season of the show premiered on Netflix back in October, and it remained a successful series for Netflix up until its November cancellation. One of Netflix's other Marvel series, Luke Cage, met a similar fate in October after two seasons.

“It’s just how business works,” Cox continued. “But also, these characters mean a lot to people. It’s weird to think there’s a chance I won’t be playing Matt Murdock ever again. That’s a bizarre feeling, because that character has been such a huge part of my life for the last four and a half years. ... You get to do all the acting obviously, which is great, but then there’s also this really fun physical aspect to it with all the stunts and the fight choreography.”
