As we prepare for ThanksgivingToday decided to share a clip of Al Roker making his mom's classic recipe for sweet potato poon. Let me repeat that. Sweet. Potato. Poon.

The guests and hosts of the morning segment clearly didn't catch on to the allusive innuendo, or if they did, they didn’t make it obvious. But the smutty and Urban Dictionary-versed people of Twitter caught on to that shit quick. If you don’t know what poon is, let’s just say it’s typically *not* something you serve up for Thanksgiving (not publicly anyway).

But Roker didn't stutter. The man said poon, and things quickly devolved from there.

So how in the world did his "mother's" Thanksgiving dessert get this unspeakably cringy name (I literally cannot write what poon is in this post)? Here's one theory:
