On Tuesday, Jimmy Fallon tweeted out an apology for a 20-year-old SNL sketch in which he impersonated Chris Rock in blackface. The sketch has since been scrubbed from NBC's platforms. Also, you can read Fallon's apologetic tweet here:
On Wednesday, Jamie Foxx came to Fallon's defense in response to an Instagram post by E! News, which stated that "Jimmy Fallon is facing backlash after a video of him doing blackface for an SNL sketch in 2000 surfaced online (...)"
Foxx's reply to said post was screen-grabbed by The Shade Room.
"He was doing an impression of Chris Rock," Foxx wrote. "It wasn't blackface. We comedians. I know it's a tough time right now. But this one is a stretch. On a show called Living Color we played every race. Let this one go. We got bigger fish to fry ... #changecourse."
E! News then reported on the response to their own post, in which they concluded their write-up with "Many more comments followed in agreement. As one praised, "Well said sir!!"
