“It may have been worst day of my life, but it’s okay,” Tinashe told several reporters, according to Us Weekly. “I drank for like six months after that! Are you kidding me? I was like wasted for months. But I’m okay now. It was terrible. It was bad. Like it was bad, but I’m good now.” She added that the situation left her “really depressed.”
The singer said she found out about Simmons dating Kendall Jenner in 2018 “from reading a headline,” which didn’t sit well with Tinashe. It also happened during the same month she and Simmons split, after just two months of dating. “I mean it’s not normal. It’s not normal,” she laughed, per HotNewHipHop. She talked about how her mother and friends helped her get through that dark period.
"You’ll find out in real-time. It goes live real. I think it’s important to always have people that got your back, but at the same time, you can’t really ever take it too seriously. At the same time, you’ve got to keep moving forward and through it," she said. "This year is such a big year in terms of like what I want to do. Just like even trying to give that energy is like I can’t. I can’t go there."
This moment of honesty may have been spurred by rumors that Jenner and Simmons have apparently rekindled their romance. The two were seen bringing in the new year together, and more recently, were spotted in New York, with a source telling Page Six that “they seemed together as a couple.”
Things got messy in 2018 when Tinashe ran into Simmons and Kendall at a club and claimed the athlete was still texting her. Simmons reportedly increased his security because the singer kept showing up at the same places as him.
