This is a beautiful trolling between daughter and father.

Marvel-themed wrapping paper was on the gift-unveiling agenda for the Scorsese crew.

As has been discussed for months now, Martin Scorsese (whose excellent The Irishman is now available for Netflixing) let loose a few comments about his assessment of Marvel movies and where they fit in the current cinematic landscape. Those comments, of course, resulted in an extended public dialogue about film vs. popcorn and the argued benefits of both. Most recently, Todd Phillips chimed in with some words of support for Scorsese. Others have taken a different approach.

And now, Scorsese's daughter, Francesca Scorsese, has added some good-natured trolling to the discourse. As revealed on Instagram and promptly shared via screenshots by fans, her father's gifts were wrapped in paper of the Marvel-themed variety, presumably for shits and giggles, and whatnot.

"Look what I’m wrapping my dad’s Xmas gifts in," the Scorsese scion wrote on her IG story alongside the already-viral image.

Perhaps Francesca's gag will be the final word on the ongoing controversy, which the aforementioned Phillips addressed recently. "Marty got a lot of heat for [what he said], but I understand it fully," Phillips said during THR's annual Director Roundtable chat, which also included Scorsese. "We were struggling to get Joker made, which sounds funny because it exists in the superhero world, but it's really not one of those movies...Whatever it is that you are selling off the back of movies, you can't make your decisions based on that."

With any luck, Marty will offer a wrapping paper update via his own IG in due time.
