Fittingly, the upcoming third entry in the Jurassic World saga will see the return of a trio of original Jurassic Park franchise stars.

Varietyreported late Tuesday that Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill will be reprising their roles (i.e. Ian Malcolm, Ellie Sattler, Alan Grant) in Jurassic World 3. Director Colin Trevorrow made the announcement at a Tuesday night Arclight Hollywood screening of the recently released Jurassic World universe-expanding short film Battle at Big Rock.

Of course, they'll be joined by returning Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Emily Carmichael, the same writer behind Pacific Rim: Uprising and that aforementioned short film, penned the script.

Jurassic World 3 is currently slated for a June 21, 2021 theatrical release.

Goldblum has teased Dern's possible return multiple times now, including in a 2018 Entertainment Tonight interview when he noted how such a casting move would be a welcomed one by the bulk of the population.

"I don't want to pass on gossip like my character," he said at the time. "But it would be good news to me and to everyone, [to] millions and billions of people all over the world . . . all over the universe and cosmos when Ellie Sattler returns."
