T.I. is set to star in the thriller Caller 100 with filmmaker Matty Rich returning to direct the project following a break from feature films that lasted over two decades, according to The Hollywood Reporter

Rich, who also penned the script, rose to fame with his directorial debut in the 1991 film Straight Out of Brooklyn, which he made for $450,000 at the age of 19 by maxing out credit cards and seeking out donations.

Straight Out of Brooklyn garnered critical acclaim, earning the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as Best First Feature for Rich at the Independent Spirit Awards. Three years later, Rich delivered his follow-up to Brooklyn titled The Inkwell, but it was never able to match the success of his debut project.

Rich responded to the downturn in his directorial career by moving to Paris, and switching careers. In 2005, Rich returned as director and screenwriter behind the video game 187 Ride or Die. His interest in gaming expanded even further, becoming CEO of Matty Rich Games, which specializes in "Christian-themed and family fun games for African American consumers."

Caller 100 tells the story of a popular radio personality who has his life turned upside down after meeting with a female listener. This project is the latest in a number of upcoming films on the horizon for T.I. Later this year, Tip will star in the Eddie Murphy-led Dolemite Is My Name and Monster Hunter, based on the Capcom video game by the same name. The latter is slated for a 2020 release.
