Sylvester Stallone, known to many as boxer Rocky Balboa, took to his Instagram Wednesday morning to announce that his appearance in Creed II as Rocky would be his last. Calling the role the "ultimate privilege," Sly announced that his time portraying Rocky — 42 years to be exact — has come to a close.

In the video, which captures a bonfire celebration for the film, Sly is ushered into making a speech by his cast mates and production crew. The caption of the video reads: "Though it breaks my heart, Sadly all things must pass... and end."

This isn't the first time the actor has expressed his desire to retire the role. "I thought Rocky was over in 2006, and I was very happy with that," he says in the video. "And all of a sudden, this young man presented himself, and the whole story changed," he continues, motioning at Michael B. Jordan, who plays Adonis Creed.

Fans of the series shouldn't take this as any indication that the franchise would be put to rest for good. The clip ends with Stallone offering one last exclamation to Jordan: "Now you have to carry the mantle!"
