It appears Meghan Markle is getting tired of her dad’s media antics.
Even before his daughter tied the knot with Prince Harry back in May, Thomas Markle was raising eyebrows with his attention-seeking stunts. The 74-year-old has not only admitted to staging paparazzi photos, he has also continued to speak about his family drama to the press.
Meghan is reportedly fed up.
“She said she just wishes her dad would ‘stop blathering’ to the press. That's the one birthday gift she wanted from her father,” an insider told the Daily Mail. “[…] Meghan has no immediate plans to contact her father. Firstly, she’s deeply hurt and secondly she can't trust him to keep their conversation private.”
Thomas conducted a nine-hour interview with the Daily Mail in late July, claiming he has been cut out of Meghan’s life. He told the publication he feared never meeting his future grandchildren and that his daughter would likely be better off if he were dead.
“Everybody would be filled with sympathy for her,” he told the outlet.” But I hope we reconcile. I'd hate to die without speaking to Meghan again.”
Sources say Meghan isn’t buying her dad’s story, as she’s had to deal with her father’s “self-pity” for years.
“Behavior like his doesn't happen overnight. Why do you think her parents got divorced in the first place?” the source said. “Meghan’s had to deal with a lot of self-esteem issues growing up with a narcissist. She has tools to cope with emotional blackmail. She does pray for him. That’s Meghan. She does not have a bad bone in her body, but she’s not falling for her dad's crocodile tears. She’s been down that road far too many times before.”
The insider said the 37-year-old Duchess is simply taking care of herself by avoiding the toxic relationship with her father. Though Meghan doesn’t have any immediate plans to contact her dad, the source suggested she would reach out when the time is right.
