As the popularity of Black Panther continues to rise around the world, it was only a matter of time until fans began to request a spinoff. Moviegoers have created a petition asking for a television spinoff based on the origins of Wakanda, Screenrant reports.

Eric Hamilton began the Change.org petition last week, requesting a series from Marvel and Netflix that will explore the Vibranium-rich African country. As of press time, it has over 4,000 signatures out of its 5,000 signature goal. Based on Hamilton's description, the idea of a spinoff definitely isn't a stretch. His petition reads:

"Telling the back story of Wakanda would be a game changer. How did Wakanda become the most technologically advanced country on Earth? From the technology to the artistry coupled with the rich African traditions, the fans demand more. The Black Panther fan base would love to see a Wakanda Series on Netflix. This series would expand the depth of the Marvel universe and we feel Marvel/Disney would enjoy creating and adapting these stories as much as we would love watching them."

The petition also points out Netflix's successful partnership with Marvel, including series like Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher. But Hamilton would have fared better if he directed the petition to Disney since all future Marvel shows will be housed on its streaming platform in 2019. Once it launches, the Disney service will be taking Netflix's current series with it.

On the movie end, Black Panther is still crushing the box office. It has almost hit the $1 billion mark, grossing $704 million worldwide and raking in $108 million domestically last weekend, the second-best second weekend in movie history.
