What might very well become the most Coen brothers movie of all time has finally done itself a solid by enlisting, you guessed it, the Coen brothers. The Oscar-winning duo of Joel and Ethan Coen have signed on to write the screenplay for Silk Road thriller Dark Web, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film, originally titled Silk Road, is based on Joshuah Bearman's 2013 Wired article about the notorious online black market that ran for two years before being shut down by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2013. Dark Web will focus on Silk Road founder Dread Pirate Roberts, whose real name is Ross Ulbricht. Ulbricht is currently serving a life sentence, though his defense has argued he deserves a new trial.

But the Coen brothers aren't the first to give the script a shot. THRnotes that Dennis Lehane, author of Gone Baby Gone, was the first to hit the Dark Web pages. The film, which doesn't yet have a star or director attached, will be produced by Peter Chernin (Oblivion, War for the Planet of the Apes).

If you're the type of person who totally ignores movies that are pretty fucking great, perhaps you're unaware (?!?!?!) that the Coen brothers are the duo behind classics like Raising Arizona, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou, and No Country for Old Men. Though typically known for their ability to both write and direct dope movies, they also occasionally lend their writing skills to movies from other directors like Steven Spielberg and Angelina Jolie.
