Shakira allegedly realized her husband Gerard Piqué was cheating on her after she discovered someone had been eating jam inside the couple’s home.
As reported by ShowNews Today, Shakira came across the evidence after returning home from traveling. The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer noticed that some jam had been eaten, which made her suspicious because Piqué and their two children all hate jam.
While the rumor has not been confirmed by Shakira, fans are pointing out on social media that the incident was referenced in the music video for the singer and Rauw Alejandro’s collaborative single “Te Felicito.” The track is about a lying ex, and features Shakira singing, “Your wound didn’t open my skin, but it did open my eyes.” Meanwhile, in the visual, Shakira opens a refrigerator to find the disembodied head of her collaborator on a platter.
Earlier this month, Shakira dropped the song “BZRP Music Session #53,” which appeared to address the aftermath of their fall out, including the fact that her ex-mother-in-law is still her neighbor. “You left me the in-laws as my neighbors / Media outlets at my door and in debt,” she sings in Spanish. “You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger / Women don’t cry anymore, they cash in.”
The singer released a statement in June 2022, confirming her split from the international soccer star Gerard Piqué after over a decade together. “For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy,” the message reads. “Thank you for your understanding.”
