After months of teasers, Rod Wave has finally revealed the release date for his fourth studio album Beautiful Mind. he celebrated the announcement by dropping off the new single “Stone Rolling” along with its visual accompaniment.
The self-directed video for “Stone Rolling” finds Rod Wave on the road, traveling from his hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida to Baltimore, Miami, and Tampa, before flying off to Cancun and hitting other destinations. All the while, Rod uses his lyrics to ruminate on his come-up as he meets strangers and makes time for his family and fans.
Rod Wave also confirmed that Beautiful Mind, the 24-track follow-up to 2021’s platinum-certified SoulFly, will drop on Aug. 12. The project features the already-platinum single “By Your Side” as well as his gold single “Cold December,” with the former marking his 20th entry on the Billboard Hot 100.
Rod has been teasing Beautiful Mind for months. In March, he announced its completion and teased an upcoming collaboration he had in the works with Future.
He also previewed a new track on his socials last December, tentatively titled “Nirvana,” but had to clarify for his concerned fans that it wasn’t any kind of suicide letter.
“Y’all know, bro, I don’t go live,” Rod said on his Instagram Live. “I don’t do no attention shit, bro. I don’t. I recorded a fucking song and, um, it was about suicide or whatever. But why the fuck would people take that shit and just say that that was my suicide letter? Like, that’s not how that works. That’s not how suicide letters work. You don’t go to a studio and record suicide letters, bro.”
He continued by saying he would have never done something so attention-seeking. “Bitch, who the fuck needs attention?” he said. “You forgot who the fuck I was? I don’t need no attention. Did you not see my tour? Did you not see my album sales? I don’t need no extra attention. I had already deleted my Insta and my Twitter and all that shit because of attention.”
