Lil Tjay affirms his talent and destiny in his latest single, Born 2 Be Great.
On the track, which was released on Wednesday, Tjay recounts some of the obstacles that life has thrown at him. Yet instead of letting these trials break him down, he proves that being resilient will allow one to determine their own destiny.
“Some your friends gon’ die, some your friends gon’ live,” Tjay croons on the track. “Some gon’ go to jail for all the shit they did, Every year they solid, every year they straight/I was always solid, solid all the way,” he continues. Tjay then toys with the melody Drake created for his feature on Rihanna’s smash “Work.”
“You need to be done, done, done, done and think something over,” he sings, recalling Drizzy. “You need to chill and focus/Try to get your life in motion.”
These lines aren’t the only time Lil Tjay has likened himself to The Boy. During a recent interview with Hot 97, The Bronx native made it clear that he’s capable of accomplishing the same things as the 6 God.
“I feel like I’m the greatest,” Tjay said around the interview’s 10-minute mark. “I believe that 10 years from now I’ll be at a Drake level.”
“Born 2 Be Great” is set to appear on Lil Tjay’s new album, Destined 2 Win, which will drop on Friday. The album is set to feature appareances from Polo G, Fivio Foreign, Saweetie, Offset, 6LACK, Moneybagg Yo, Toosii, and Tyga.
