Following the release of his DS4EVER album, Gunna stopped by the Breakfast Club to talk about his beef with Freddie Gibbs, and his rumored relationship with Chlöe Bailey.

Gunna and Gibbs have been quietly trading shots ever since an alleged video of a young Gunna surfaced online in 2020, but their beef reignited with a vengeance by the end of 2021. When the topic came up in the new Breakfast Club interview, at the 33:30 mark, Gunna explained his side and why he decided to diss Gibbs.

“It came out the blue, I was rapping and his name came up and I had to let him know before it came out,” he said. “I’m not really on no sucker time, like, I’m really trying to address everything in every situation before anything, you know, happen. I knew where he stood at before anything, off top he a man, he gonna let you know, ‘I got a problem with you.’ … That’s what really what it was, you said what you said and I said what I said.”

Pressed for more, Gunna admitted that he didn’t really understand why the beef happened to begin with. “Some people just speak on it, like, ‘OH he was on Crime Stoppers.’ When?” he asked. “I don’t know, I ain’t never sent nobody to jail. I ain’t never talk to a cop on camera.” He also accused Gibbs of not fully understanding the case in the clip, in which he was talking to a local news show about his cousin serving time in jail.

Gibbs inserted himself into the conversation after the clip started to circulate online, and suggested that Gunna was a “snitch” for the clip. After he made those comments, Gunna said that Gibbs’ manager actually reached out to them to collaborate. “He tried to do a song with me, through my manager,” he said, confirming it was after Gibbs’ “snitch” comment. “He thought I forgot,” Gunna added.

.@FreddieGibbs u probably thought sneak dissing then begging for a verse was 🅿️… the only 🅿️ we associate u wit u is Police..dad a cop. Brother a DA. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/hk7p3R8RUh

When the topic of dating and marriage comes up, around the 17:00 point, he said he’s not ready to be pinned down to one woman just yet. He also addressed the rumors of his relationship with Chlöe Bailey, one half of the duo Chloe x Halle. He laughed off the suggestion that they were actually cousins, but made it clear that they’re not dating right now, too.

“We ain’t cousins,” he said with a grin. “We’re really close friends, we got a hit song together.” He explained how they were able to get together to make the track, and also admitted that his initial shout-out was “kinda shooting my shot a little bit.”

Near the start of the interview, at the 3:20 point, Gunna discussed the recent accusations of racism that Young Thug levelled against a private jet pilot. As Thugger explained, him and Gunna were removed from the private jet because one of their friends did not have identification. “You’re racist as fuck,” said Thug in the clip. “Your wife should leave you.”

At the time, Drake hopped in Thug’s Instagram Live comment section to say that he would send a private jet to collect Thug if needed. “He was about to,” said Gunna of whether Drizzy sent a jet or not. “Travis reached out too, like, ‘bruh you know you can get my plane…’ I got some real rich friends.” He added that he “most definitely” thinks the pilot was being racist, and explained they were met with hostility from the moment they arrived. Ultimately, they were able to get their money back, though.

Gunna also sat down with DJ Clue for an interview in which he also talked about the plane incident, his beef with Freddie Gibbs, and Chlöe Bailey.
