Young Thug’s attorney has requested the court give the 31-year-old bond due to his health.

Alive 11 News reports that Thugger’s lawyer, Brian Steel, says the rapper is “languishing in the county jail” without bond due to a poor diet. He’s been incarcerated since he was arrested and subsequently indicted last May.

Steel says Thug is unable to stay healthy because he doesn’t have access to good food options, instead eating foods that have “zero health benefits” like chocolate and chips. Thug’s limited time outdoors has been impacting Thug’s health and he isn’t able to get much exercise either due to his small cell. The time he gets fresh air is when he’s taken to and from the courthouse. Steel also says Thug is “sleep-deprived,” only sleeping for five hours each night—and on court days, he has to wake up between 3 and 4 a.m.

“By the end of the week, Mr. Williams is fighting to pay attention to the goings on in his case,” Steel said in his bond request. Steel would like Thug to be bonded out, saying “conditions can be imposed which permit bond to be set.”

Young Thug has been indicted on a gang activity charge, stemming from 2018, and a charge of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act from 2013. Gunna and 28 other people were also arrested last May, and charged in a 56-count RICO indictment. Gunna and other associates have accepted plea deals over the last few months, which allowed them to circumvent prison and trial. Thug has maintained his innocence the entire time. This is the fourth motion for bond filed by his attorney; the previous three have been denied.
