As the anticipation for the Director X-helmed re-imagining of the Blaxploitation era film Superfly continues to build, the star-studded original soundtrack is finally here. Where the original film's funk and soul score was written and recorded by the legendary Curtis Mayfield, X's modern take saw him reach out to rapper Future, who served as producer for the entire project, as well as co-producer of the film.

Instead of Harlem in 1972, the film takes place in present-day Atlanta, which made Future the perfect choice. The project essentially plays like a Future album, but also features appearances from Lil Wayne, Miguel, Young Thug and PartyNextDoor, whose feature alongside the Atlanta rapper recently got the visual treatment for the song "No Shame", also directed by Director X.

While the soundtrack is a sonic reflection of the film's 2018 southern setting, there are plenty of nods to the original film's soulful era, with Sleepy Brown fitting in perfectly on its opening track "If You Want It." The soundtrack also features Young Bans, who joins Future on the song "Bag", and a slow jam duet with alt-R&B favorites H.E.R. and Khalid called "This Way."

Superfly hits theaters on June 15, and stars Trevor Jackson, Jason Mitchell, and Michael Kenneth Williams, also boasting cameos from Big Boi and Rick Ross.
