J. Cole just hit a new charting record thanks to the success of his fifth studio album KOD.
Chart Data on Twitter reveals that Cole has become the first artist to debut three simultaneous singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The KOD tracks that managed to dominate the chart include "Kevin's Heart," "ATM," and title track "KOD." "ATM" also marks Cole's fourth overall Top 10 entry on the Hot 100.
KOD had an explosive debut, pushing 397,000 album units in its first week, breaking Spotify's opening day streaming record, and debuting at the top of Billboard's Top 200 Albums. This latest record cements Cole's ranking among rap's top players.
The success of KOD is comparative to Kendrick Lamar's initial numbers for DAMN.'s release—which is no easy feat by any means. It's even more impressive to think that Cole pulled it off with virtually no rollout strategy for his latest album.
Like him or not, Cole's influence is undeniable, and this newest chart record proves his dominance hasn't wavered. Although we're only a week out from KOD's drop, Cole has already teased plans for his next project, allegedly titled The Fall Off. He's also assured fans that a deluxe edition of KOD will be dropping soon with some tracks that didn't make the final cut.
