Travis Scott has once again topped the Billboard 200 after Utopia outpaced its competitors, Billboard reportds. La Flame moved over 185,000 copies last week, giving the rapper the top spot and making Utopia the only rap album since Drake’s Certified Lover Boy to have consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Travis Scott already accomplished the feat in 2018, when Astroworld topped the chart for three straight weeks. Apart from the rapper's insane popularity, Utopia’s dominance can also be attributed to a promotional offer on Scott’s official webstore, which discounted the Utopia vinyl LP from $50 to only $5 for a limited time.
Out of Utopia’s 99,000 sales for the week, vinyl copies accounted for 93,000 units. That number notched Utopia’s best week on vinyl, giving Travis the seventh-largest sales week on vinyl for any album since Luminate began tracking sales in 1991, and the biggest week for an R&B/Hip-hop or rap album on vinyl in that same period.
Travis Scott also released a 75-minute film titled Circus Maximus to coincide with the album release. In addition to music from his latest album, the movie features contributions from Harmony Korine, Nicolas Winding Refn, Gaspar Noe, and Kahlil Joseph who each directed music videos for “Hyaena,” “Sirens,” “Modern Jam,” and “Delresto (Echoes)” featuring Beyoncé—which were also released as individual visuals alongside the full film.
The Houston native released Utopia in late July and it became his third No. 1 album. All 19 tracks charted on the Hot 100, including the Drake-assisted “Meltdown,” which opened at No. 3.
