Method Man has revealed he hasn’t watched a single episode of Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga show even though he’s listed as a producer.

During a recent conversation on the Gold Minds With Kevin Hart podcast, the legendary rapper spoke about the show and how important it was for fans to see how they leveraged solo deals as a group. However, as great as it was, Meth hasn’t seen the show that just concluded its third and final season.

“There was never in the history of music, where a group signed as a group with the option to sign as solo artists with other labels,” Method Man told Hart. “Labels, the one thing they don’t do, is play nice with each other. They’re not gonna share money. So to have me on Def Jam, GZA on Geffen, and Raekwon at the home team Loud — you had these three labels working together for our cause. Unheard of, unheard of. Which, in terms of changing the game, that’s changing the game right there. You had people actually asking for Wu-Tang deals.”

According to Tical, working on the show was a no-brainer, but he eventually started to realize it wasn’t his vision, so he decided to step back and not ruin anything that people worked so hard on.

"They were taking a lot of liberties here with the story, but in hindsight, knowing how some of these things work and embellishments and sometimes you know dudes still be having open cases and shit like that I can understand,” Meth said. “I haven’t watched an episode personally, but I get the scripts ahead of time, and you know, I mean every thing ain’t for everybody, that’s all I could say.”

Hart asked Meth if bringing negative energy into something that was created out of love was the reason he didn’t watch the show, and he confirmed that it’s best to leave things be and just mind your business.

“I did not want to mess with their process, these people get paid to do these things, you’re talking about Hulu and Imagine and you know sometimes you just got to step back and keep your opinions to yourself," he added.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga premiered on Hulu in September 2019 and ran for three seasons, ending in April 2023. The show portrayed a fictionalized account of the formation of the Wu and won two Golden Reel Awards while also being nominated for an Emmy. It also starred Ashton Sanders, Shameik Moore, Siddiq Saunderson, TJ Atoms, Dave East and more.
