Danny Brown has stated being in rehab for alcohol abuse left him completely humbled and made his life better.

On the latest episode of The Danny Brown Show, the Detroit native made his return to give fans an update on his well-being. According to Brown, rehab has him appreciating his life and career more, especially compared to those who were in the same program.

“I will say man, like being in treatment and all that shit, one thing it did do: It humbled the fuck out of me,” he said. “It made me real fuckin’—you know, just showed a lot of gratitude. I got a cool-ass life, man. You hear other motherfuckers stories, a lot of these motherfuckers that’s in there, they had drinking problems, drug problems, and that shit. They gotta go back to work, they gotta go work a real, regular 9-5 job. I have one of the best jobs in the fucking world, man. So I was taking a lot of shit for granted.”

Danny Brown revealed he would voluntarily check himself into rehab during an earlier episode of his show back in March. Around that time, Brown shared several drunk tweets and showed up to The Danny Brown Show under the influence of alcohol.

“Alcohol is something I need to be done with cause it makes me hurt the people that care the most,” he said.

In the middle of his SXSW performance in Texas that same month, Brown also got candid with fans about his current situation, saying that he was set to “get help” after finding himself in a “really dark place” in his life.

“At the end of the day, I’m 42 years old,” he told the crowd at a Dr. Martens event at the Austin-based festival. “Me sitting around fucking smoking blunts all day, fucking getting drunk—this shit is getting old. I will say, man, I know y’all way younger than me so everybody have y’all fun…[but] shit could get dark. I got into a really dark place with it so now I’m gonna go get help.”
