Chingy responded to a viral list that deemed him one of the “50 worst rappers,” calling the list “invalid.”
In an interview with VLADTV, the “Right Thurr” rapper seemed eager to share his thoughts on the list, which also included rap icons like Master P and Diddy.
“People kill me, they have nothing to do, they sit around, I don’t know if they’re just watching videos or anything and they just write down some names and say, ‘Oh these are the 50 worst rappers,” Chingy says in the clip above. “It’s just absurd because here’s the thing, the people who are looking at it, that’s talking about it is who give it energy, or it would have no energy because to me it’s invalid because it’s subjective.”
He continued, “I’ve sold over 50 million records worldwide. I still have success. There’s people that love me. You go ask these people and they say, ‘yeah we love Chingy. I love Chingy, he’s one of my favorite artists,’ I had somebody tell me this the other day. So how am I one of the worst rappers if everybody in this existence not saying ‘oh that dude can’t rap he’s the worst?’ Then that mean you not the worst...that list is absurd and need to be done away with.”
The creator of that list isn’t the only person who’s refused to give Chingy his flowers recently. Chingy said in an interview with HipHopDX that the Holiday Inn hotel chain never once offered the St. Louis rapper a free room, despite his hit song “Holidae In” likely making the hotel “a lot of money.”
“We tried to work with them when I came out with that song,” he said. “I’m pretty sure I made them millions, I’m pretty sure I made them a lot of money. They wouldn’t work with us. They wouldn’t work with us.”
He added, “That song is true. We used to kick it at the Holiday Inn. We used to throw parties there. Play dominos, play spades, and drinking, and smoking and shit. We really used to do that. So we wrote a song about it, but they done messed with us.”
