Roughly eight months after he was suspended from X, formerly known as Twitter, Kanye West's account was reinstated. Not even two hours later, his account was suspended again.
West was initially suspended for violating company policy after he shared a photo of a swastika combined with the Star of David. X owner Elon Musk suspended West's account, citing the site's rule against the incitement of violence.
On Saturday, however, people were surprised to see that West's account is back up and running. According to the company via Wall Street Journal, the Yeezus rapper will not be able to monetize his account or have ads featured next to his posts. WSJ also said that a source close to West confirmed that his reinstatement came alongside reassurance that he will not post antisemitic or otherwise harmful things.
However, West's account was suspended again less than two hours after his reinstatement. There has been no reason given for his suspension. It was eventually available to view once again, although West has not used it yet. The last tweet that can be seen is of him accusing Chris Paul of having an affair with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
Musk, upon his acquisition of the site, which he renamed X, has stated he wants to make it a platform for free speech. He reinstated a number of controversial accounts, including former President Donald Trump. Trump has also not returned to the site, finding a home on the conservative-leaning Truth Social.
