The estate of XXXTentacion is ready to drop more of his posthumous music. His latest single, "Royalty," features Ky-Mani Marley, Stefflon Don, and Vybz Kartel is out now, along with an accompanying music video.
"Royalty" can be viewed as a tribute to the late rapper's Jamaican roots. XXXTentacion laces a dancehall-inspired instrumental with a verse that begins with him speaking in patois. This theme is furthered by Stefflon Don, Vybz Kartel, and Ky-Mani Marley, who all flaunt their ancestral heritage with their features. "Royalty" is accompanied by a video that was shot in Kingston. Director Damian Fyffeshowcases the various landscapes of the city in hopes to encompass the feel of Jamaica.
"Royalty" preludes the release of XXXTentacion upcoming album, Bad Vibes Forever. The rapper's team released Skins last December, and this was the first project since his tragic murder in June of the same year. Skins was followed by the deluxe version of his chart-topping album, ?, which featured unheard voice memos from the album's recording sessions. Bad Vibes Forever will be one of the several albums the rapper claimed to have finished before he was killed.
The release of this music only adds to the impact XXXTentacion has had on fans and other artists. During a conversation with Complex News, Trippie Redd detailed his friendship with the rapper. "At the end of the day, we always used to argue and shit, we was like some little-ass girls. But we always made up from our arguments. The last argument was very serious, but we ended up getting past it," Redd said before mentioning how ? influenced his latest project, !.
"?, it was like versatile. Showed all his strong points. Showed what he was doing... It came from the inspiration of him being himself on his project," Redd said.
