Nobody beats the Biz.

The late great Biz Markie will be getting a street named after him in his hometown of Patchogue, Long Island. The hip-hop pioneer’s widow Tara Davis announced the news via Instagram on Wednesday.

“HONORARY STREET NAMING DEDICATION! In honor of the contributions Biz has achieved as an actor, beatboxed, DJ and philanthropist, his hometown of Patchogue Long Island will honor him with the renaming of South Street to Biz Markie Way,” Davis wrote before thanking the people who helped make the honor happen.

“Thank you. [Tracey Todd] for spearheading this project, Patchogue Villiage Mayor, Paul Pontieri and The Greater Patchogue Foundation.”

The renaming ceremony will be held at a staging area behind the 6th District Court on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Biz Markie passed in July of this year after complications with type 2 diabetes. Outside of hits like “Just a Friend” and “Vapors,” Biz Markie is known in hip-hop for his contributions to the legendary Juice Crew which included legendary artists like Marly Marl, MC Shan, Roxanne Shante, and Mr. Magic. The Juice Crew also laid the foundation for iconic rappers such as Big Dadd Kane, Kool G Rap, and Tragedy Khadafi (fka The Intelligent Hoodlum) who all honed their skills as part of the collective.
