Anticipation for the project has been building since official posters teasing the arrival of Culture II started popping up in Atlanta back in June.

The trio have done their part to keep the hype up, calling the project a masterpiece in a September interview with Montreality: "Culture II is a masterpiece man. We setting a trend. We started this whole little wave. We started the whole genre, the whole flow, the whole melody. Ain’t nobody right now who can say they ain’t took our flow. We ain’t tripping, we never did trip. Hip-hop has changed in a big way, We changed it."

After dropping three album singles "MotorSport," "Stir Fry," and "Supastars," Migos sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone and hinted at the album's direction. Takeoff noted, "We got a little funkier. It's not all the way funk. There's still a Migos vibe."

Offset confirmed that the album was made with their most important listeners in mind: women. He explained, "Even if it's some gangsta shit, trap shit, the bitches got to like it. See, 'Bad and Boujee' was really a ladies' record. It made all of them want to stand up a little more and feel a little better about themselves. When you got the women, you got everything. If a nigga needs to know the secret to hits, you need something that the women like."
