A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is celebrating Valentineās Day with some new music.
On the anniversary of his debut mixtape Artist, which he released on Feb. 14, 2016, A Boogie has made a ā2.0ā version of the project. It contains previously heard tracks āKing of My City,ā āReplyā featuring Lil Uzi Vert, and āMood Swings.ā Additional guests on the 20-song release include Roddy Ricch, Young Thug, Summer Walker, DaBaby, Gunna, London on da Track, Khalid, and Trap Manny.Ā
The cover art for Artist featured the Bronx talent and a woman with a ski mask, depicting a puppet master who has A Boogie under a spell. Back in 2016, he explained the concept to Pigeons & Planes, saying the tracks on the project were inspired by a tough situation with his girlfriend at the time. āSheās controlling me on the piano, thatās just symbolizing a girl that messed up a dudeās heart in a situation. Sheās controlling the music now.āĀ
The artwork forĀ Artist 2.0 seemingly finds A Boogie building on that concept:
A Boogie is known to pour out a wide range of emotions in his music, making sure that you āfeel himā when you listen to his songs. So far, he has had a successful career doing just that, earning multiple platinum certifications for hits like āLook Back At It,ā āStartender,ā and āSwervin.ā His melodic style is not what a typical artist from New York sounds like, which is why he's demanding that he gets his props.
