NPR's terrific Tiny Desk Concert series works best when the guest performer can really deliver the goods in a live setting. Thankfully, the show's segment producers routinely select artists that fit the bill — this season has been blessed with talented acts including Anderson .Paak, Rhye, and powerhouse sister duo, Ibeyi. The most recent addition to that list is no exception, as earlier today, an episode featuring Daniel Caesar was made available for streaming. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Grammy nominated kid from Toronto crushes his session and immediately enters the conversation for best Tiny Desk Concert in a long while.

Daniel, in maybe his best vocal form, doesn't waste any time by playing three hits off of his debut LP, Freudian: "Japanese Denim", "Get You", and the closer, "Best Part", which elicits a special appearance by H.E.R. near the end of the video. The mini gig is full of accompaniment too, and aside from the aforementioned Gabi Wilson, Caesar is flanked by trusted collaborator Matthew Burnett on keys, along with Adrian Bent on drums, Saya Gray and bass, and a vocal trio made of Nevon Sinclair, Danah Martin, and Camille Harrison.

You can watch the full thing below via NPR, and be sure to check out our profile on Caesar from last summer here.
