Kurupt’s estranged wife Jovan Brown—who used to go by the stage name Gail Gotti—has alleged that Kurupt abandoned her last year, after she received a terminal cancer diagnosis, according to The Blast.

Kurupt (born Ricardo Brown) and Brown were together for almost two decades when they divorced in 2017, and he allegedly denied paying her medical bills and living expenses, leaving her both financially and emotionally vulnerable. Brown is now asking for spousal support for medical and living expenses.

“Our separation definitely hurt, as I could not understand how after 17 years he abruptly left me in my time of need when I needed his support and love the most,” she wrote. “Before [Kurupt] left out relationship, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Although I earned a salary prior to separation and [he] knew I needed the money, when I asked [him] to assist me with my treatment, he responded ‘go get a regular job’ and I should ‘get a boyfriend to help me pay for my treatments.’”

Brown has requested $14,000 in monthly spousal support, $40,000 in lawyer’s fees, and half-ownership of Kurupt’s companies. She also claims she dealt with the business end of their marijuana line Moonrock and deserves a share.

Brown contends that Kurupt has told her he has a new woman and has to support his new family, and added that he allegedly has substance abuse issues which have caused him to become verbally and mentally abusive.

A hearing is slated for July.
