Earlier this year, Benny the Butcher and Freddie Gibbs traded shots on social media after the former said their working relationship âcame and went.â
A month or so removed from their public back-and-forth, Benny addressed his relationship with Freddie during a recent appearance on Drink Champs.
âWhat the fuck is up with you and Freddie Gibbs, man?â N.O.R.E. asked Benny at the 27:30 mark of the interview. âI thought yâall was homies. Yâall went on tour, and all this shit.â
Benny downplayed their rumored beef, saying, âReally, it ainât nothing⊠I donât get too into rap relationships with n***as âcause a lot of times it donât be real. That n***a put a tweet up or some weird shit and I wouldnât know why he did that shit.â
When asked what caused the beef, Benny admitted that he wasnât sure what exactly caused it.
âI donât know,â he said. âI donât even care to ponder on it because this shit will get crazy if you start letting your feelings in this shit.â
Back in March, Benny appeared on Spotify Greenroom, where he was asked about whether he had any future collaborations lined up with Gibbs. The pair previously joined forces on Freddieâs 2020 album Alfredo for âFrank Lucas,â as well as on Bennyâs 2020 LP Burden of Proof with âOne Way Flight.â
That moment of working together âcame and went, to be honest with you,â Benny was quoted as saying. âItâs all love.â
It didnât take long for Freddie to respond, as the Gary, Indiana rapper replied to a Spotify tweet that highlighted Bennyâs quote.
âCame and went lol,â Gibbs replied.
From there, Freddie took to his Instagram Stories to address Bennyâs comments again.
âN***a said working with Freddie Gibbs came and went,â Freddie said. âI know some other shit that came and went, too, n***a. ⊠Just keep my name out yâall mouth man, when yâall talking to people who are doing interviews and shit. Just say ânext question, man. I donât want to talk about that n***a, man.â Just say ânext motherfuckinâ question.â For real.â
