Following the release of their joyous video for “All She Wanna Do,” John Legend and Saweetie have shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the shoot with Complex.
The pair teamed up for the track earlier this month, as a preview from the R&B singer’s upcoming double album, LEGEND. The Christian Breslauer-directed video for the track features a group of dancers who believed they were present for an open casting call, but what they didn’t know is that Legend and Saweetie were waiting to surprise them on set to reveal it’s actually the shoot for the music video.
“The 'All She Wanna Do' video is a big dance party, the perfect way to visually portray the spirit of the song," Legend told Complex of the music video. "When Saweetie and I surprised the dancers on set it was magic, and Christian Breslauer did a brilliant job capturing their energy and excitement on camera. This video feels so good and I’m so excited to share it with fans."
The song is taken from LEGEND, the singer’s forthcoming double album that will also feature appearances from Rick Ross, JID, Ty Donna Sign, Rapsody, Muni Long, and Jhene Aiko, among others. The record is due to arrive on September 9 via Republic Records.
“Until this point, I’ve never used an aspect of my name as the title of an album,” Legend recently said of the upcoming record. “I had to earn that, to live up to it by delivering in the performance and the music. And this is me saying, I’m proud of who I am, I’m confident in the work I’ve done, and I’m just going to declare it.”
