Earlier this week, the hip-hop community was heartbroken to hear that Philadelphia rapper and model Chynna Rogers had died age 25. "I can regrettably confirm Chynna passed away," her manager said in a statement. "Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed." Page Six reports that a representative for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health says she died of an accidental drug overdose.

When the news of her death broke, a cause of death wasn't revealed. She had previously spoke about her struggles with opiate addiction in both interview and her music. "I felt crazy. I didn't want to be a statistic. I didn't want to go out that way and people be like: 'I told you so," or glamorize it [drugs], because I don't feel like that," Chynna said in a Vibe interview from 2017. "It was nerve-wracking to be open, but when you see how many more people who are dealing with the same thing, it's good to have some kind of example of someone you didn't expect to be going through it."

There was an outpouring of condolences when the news hit on Thursday. Among those to pay their respects to Chynna were Kehlani, Father, Hudson Mohawke, Saba, and ASAP Mob. In a recent post, SZA also shared a tribute in which she said she couldn't believe Chynna was gone. "Owe u a vacation an some mo shit," she wrote alongside a photo of Chynna. "Not sure what the fucks goin on but I really hope everybodys okay. Loving u ma. So precious so pure. I'm so sorry."

RIP.
