ODESZA Returns With First Song in 4 Years, "The Last Goodbye" f/ Bettye LaVette

After a four-year hiatus, ODESZA has returned with their new single “The Last Goodbye,” featuring vocals from Bettye LaVette’s 1965 song “Let Me Down Easy."

ODESZA have returned, and they’ve brought a piece of the past with them.

After a four-year solo hiatus, the electronic duo have released their new single, “The Last Goodbye,” featuring vocals swiped and reimagined from Bettye LaVette’s 1965 song “Let Me Down Easy.”

As the pair notes in a release, the track was created in an effort to bring “lasting, defining musical pieces” like LaVette’s track into a “modern and contemporary electric setting.”

“The idea of bringing two worlds together, that at first seem distant, has always been something we’ve been drawn to,” ODESZA shared. “It was an absolute honor to be able to work with Bettye’s voice over the course of writing the track. She’s able to convey emotion with her vocal work unlike any other. To date, this has been one of the more fulfilling songs we’ve had the chance to work on as artists. We hope everyone who listens enjoys the track as much as we did making it.”

It’s been nearly four years since the duo released their last full-length solo studio project with the deluxe edition of A Moment Apart, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and featured massive hits in its title track, “Line Of Sight,” and “Across the Room.”

Since then, they teamed up with Golden Features for the 2020 collaborative effort BRONSON, which included contributions from Gallant and lau.ra. That last release hit the Top 5 of the U.S. dance charts.
