2Pac’s life has been celebrated many times before, but never like this.

The legendary rapper’s estate announced on Tuesday that he will have his life’s work celebrated through the immersive museum experience Tupac Shakur. Wake Me When I’m Free, which kicks off at the Canvas @ L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Jan. 22.

The museum experience is being described as “part art installation, part sensory experience” and will feature never-before-seen artifacts from Pac’s short career in a 20,000-square-foot space. Wake Me When I’m Free is the brainchild of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Chief Curator & Vice President of Curatorial Affairs Nwaka Onwusa, director Jeremy Hodges, and his firm Project Art Collective.

“It is a privilege to be a part of such a monumental project,” Hodges said in a release. “Tupac Shakur was my Malcolm; he was my Martin, and to build an experience that honors such a prolific man, cannot be summed up in words. We wanted to create a memorable experience that will inspire you to be better than when you walked in, all while leaving you with the knowledge that he was a true revolutionary spirit.”

WMWIF—which is produced by Round Room Live, CAA, Universal Music Group and Kinfolk Management + Media—will hit several cities over the next few years, with Pac’s terf in LA being the starting point, with Perkins&Will and Ralph Appelbaum Associates providing design support.

“Tupac Shakur was without a doubt one of the most important artists of his generation, transforming culture through his music and ideas,” said vice chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records Steve Berman. “Wake Me When I’m Free honors Tupac’s extraordinary contributions and I know I speak for the entire Interscope and Universal Music Group family that we are so proud to be able to collaborate with our partners to bring this incredible exhibit to life.”

Pre-sale tickets for the L.A. event celebrating 2Pac go on sale Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. ET on WMWIF.com, while general sale begins Nov. 12 at the same time.
